British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends the current season and plans to retain her coach for 2026.
Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season due to a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.
At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.
These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.
She required blood pressure checks in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
She again required a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu due to a lower back issue that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.
Raducanu had three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.
Raducanu won 28 victories in the current season and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.
As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.
The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
