European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron charged the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions targeted individuals who have been at the heart of campaigns to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official in a social media post. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
