Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
