New information has come to light regarding the tragic demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
