The Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, are still the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
Toronto secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
