The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The track blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The group managing the project have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
